Gun-for-hire nabbed for loose firearm, ammo, explosives

AN ALLEGED member of an organized crime group and gun-for-hire was arrested for illegal possession of firearm, ammunition, and explosives in a raid in Barangay E. Lopez, Silay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday, February 28.

Police identified the suspect as Allan Rano, 33, of the said village.

Personnel of Silay City Police Station led by Superintendent Noel Polines raided Rano’s house through a search warrant at 7 p.m.

Authorities recovered from him were two hand grenades, a .45 caliber pistol, 20 live ammunition and two magazines of the said firearm, eight live ammunition of 12 gauge shotgun, several assorted fired cartridge cases, a holster, two pouches, and a sling bag.

He will be charged for violation of the Commission on Elections gun ban, Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and illegal possession of explosives.
