ACTOR Tom Rodriguez is certain that marriage comes before being a father.
Rodriguez is excited at the idea of being a dad but first wants to marry his girlfriend, Carla Abellana, before becoming a parent during an interview Thursday, February 28, at the grand media conference of the Dragon Lady held at Shangri-La Hotel in Quezon City.
According to him, Abellana is the perfect partner and treats him like a wife when they’re spending time together. He stated that he is looking forward to the idea of Abellana being his wife.
“I’m really looking forward to the real thing.
“The partnership that we have is really ano, e, yun nga yung sinasabi ko na yung iba siguro, o ako naisip ko na dati nung kabataan ko na, ‘You have to find someone na you get along with, na parang kapareho mo,’” he said.
With this notion, Rodriguez said that he is excited at the idea of being a father yet Abellana prefers to get married first.
However, he said that if they were to have a child before that, he would treat this as a blessing but for now, the couple is careful of that scenario.
“Well, that’s a blessing from God. Yeah, for me, pero yun nga, maingat kami sa mga ganung mga bagay.”
Rodriguez and Abellana have been in a relationship for five strong years. They have already bought a plot of land where they plan to build their future house together. However, he has yet to propose to her.
Rodriguez is adamant that they should be wed first before starting a family.
