Marañon to bring up sugar import liberalization issue to Duterte

GOVERNOR Alfredo Marañon revealed Friday, March 1, he will personally bring up to President Rodrigo Duterte the issue on the proposed sugar import liberalization if he will have a chance to talk to him personally when the latter visits the province.

However, Marañon said it is not yet certain that the President would be in Victorias City on March 8 to lead the Grand Rally of the PDP-Laban senatorial candidates.

It was earlier reported that Duterte was scheduled to visit the province on February 26 and on March 1. But the President did not arrive.

Marañon confirmed though that he is personally attending the rally of the senatorial candidates of the PDP-Laban.

The governor said he was informed that around 20,000 delegates will attend the rally in Victorias City.

Third District Rep. Alfredo Benitez has confirmed the said rally.

Marañon said he is not certain who among the 12 candidates will be arriving. He also refused to comment on whether he will support all the PDP-Laban candidates.

“Let’s see who among them will be arriving for the rally,” Marañon said.

Senator Joseph Victor Ejercito has confirmed that he will be arriving for the rally on March 8.

Aside from Ejercito, Duterte declared support for the senatorial bid of former special assistant to the President Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, retired general Ronaldo Dela Rosa, Francis Tolentino, Cynthia Villar, Juan Edgardo Angara, Koko Pimentel, Rafael Alunan III, Pia Cayetano, Dong Mangudadato, Bong Revilla, and Imee Marcos.
