PNP: No record of police abuse in Oro drug ops

AN OFFICIAL of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (Cocpo) Friday, March 1, said Cocpo’s Internal Affairs Service (CIAS) has yet to sanction any personnel involved in the shooting deaths of “nanlaban” drug suspects since the drug war was launched.

Cocpo’s spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa II said the CIAS has ruled that anti-drug operatives have not abused their authorities in carrying out drug operations.

“From the very beginning of our drug war, wala pay na-convict nga personnel sa mga cases resulting sa pagkamatay sa mga suspects kay na found out sa CIAS nga walay pagpangabuso sa atong personnel,”Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa also said there have been no family members or relatives of the suspects who came forward and lodge a complaint against the operatives.

Since January this year, some four suspected drug personalities have been killed so far for allegedly fighting back against the authorities.

He said the motu proprio investigation conducted by CIAS is ongoing.

Hortillosa said the recent data is not alarming.

“Dili siya alarming kay first, they were engaging in illegal drugs; second, they threat the lives of our operating personnel; and third, suspects were arrested alive in most of our operations,”Hortillosa said.

Hortillosa also said the city police office will continue to relentlessly fight the menace of illegal drugs.

“Magpadayon ang among kampanya batok sa illegal nga droga gamit ang among konsensya ug maayong serbisyo nga ma-protektahan ang mga inosente nga mga tao nga posible mabiktima sa druga bisan pa sa mga issue nga gibato kanamo,” Hortillosa said.

“Kung dili gusto masusama kaning mga tao nga nalambigit sa droga nga mamatay during operations kay misukol mas maayo pa moundang na sila karon.” he added.
