Boomerang: Study Buddy

STUDYING entails a lot of discipline and hard work for one to appreciate its benefits later on. Whether it is for an upcoming quiz in school or a fast-approaching licensure examination—it can be physically, mentally and emotionally draining.

With so many distractions popping out—from social media to the urge to join friends for weekend gimmicks—allotting quality time to read books and notes can be a challenge. However, students always find ways to make studying less mentally draining by complementing the activity with something that pumps energy into it. Let us read what is one thing these young readers cannot do without when they’re burning the midnight oil.

“To keep myself motivated while studying, I usually keep myself hydrated and refreshed. Also, I love to snack on sweets like chocolates and ice cream.”

—Zion Enrico Licup, 19, Architecture student - University of Sto. Tomas

“I can’t seem to focus on my study plans without music. Studying is stressful but if I study while listening to my favorite music (especially the BTS albums), everything around me seems more relaxed and my mind becomes calmer, so I understand what I’m reading better.”

—Katya Joy Siega, 22, Accounting staff

“Hot or iced coffee keeps me awake and it helps me focus more while studying.”

—Siegton Humprey Sable, 20, Architecture student - University of San Carlos

“It would definitely be music. Listening to music helps me concentrate when I study.”

—Martin Lorenzo del Rosario, 20, Nursing student - Velez College
