THE Provincial Government of Pampanga sent relief goods to some 1,873 residents of Barangay Capunitan in Orion, Bataan who were affected by a fire last January.

Assisted by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) head Angie Blanco, Provincial Social Welfare Development Officer Elizabeth Baybayan, Orion Mayor Antonio Raymundo, Jr., and Lubao mayoralty candidate Esmie Pineda, Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda personally handed over to each beneficiary 10 kilograms of rice, assorted canned goods and towels.

According to the lady governor, although the province [Bataan] is not her jurisdiction, the Pampanga is wide open to help them.

“Basta kaya namin, ng Pampanga, tutulong kami sa mga karatig-probinsya (As long as we can, we will help our neighbour provinces),” she added.

Blanco said that it was Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda’s initiative to send help to the fire victims.

“Sa liderato po ni Nanay (Governor Pineda) at ni Vice-Governor Delta, napagplanuhan ang pagpapadala ng tulong sa mga biktima ng sunog dito (It was through the leadership of Nanay and Vice-Governor Delta that the aid was planned and extended),” she added.

For his part, Raymundo announced to the fire victims that the national government through former Special Assistant to the President Bong Go, National Housing Authority and Bataan Governor Albert Raymond “Abet” Garcia would allot a budget for their permanent homes.

The residents thanked the governor and the vice-governor for their concern for Barangay Capunitan. (PR)
