THE City Government of San Fernando on Friday, March 1, launched its fifth birthing station in Barangay San Agustin as part of its agenda “Malusog na Fernandino, Masiglang Pamumuhay ay Sigurado” and in celebration of Women’s Month.

The newest birthing station will complement the four other natal centers in barangays Sindalan, San Nicolas, San Jose, and Northville to ensure all pregnant women will be safe and healthy during pregnancy until childbirth.

During the launch, Mayor Edwin Santiago stressed that it is important to monitor the health conditions of the pregnant mothers because two lives are at stake.

He urged pregnant women in attendance coming from the village and neighboring barangays to have their regular check-up in rural health units to avoid complications.

A child is a blessing from God who should be taken care of and loved),” Santiago said.

He added that the local government will always support and provide health care programs for the community to ensure their well-being.

We will not stop in creating and implementing programs and improving facilities as the city is home to healthy Fernandinos),” he said.

Santiago added that “Dito sa Syudad San Fernando, walang maiiwan. Here in the City of San Fernando, even while the child is still in the womb of the mother, healthcare programs for him or her are already in place).”

Santiago, together with city officials, Barangay Captain Reghis Evaristo, Rural Health Physicians Dr. Rowena Salas and Dr. Carlos Mercado led the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new station and distribution of baby care packages to pregnant women. (JTD)
