Makeup trends in 2019

KAGAY-ANON makeup artist Liane Bastareche, the owner of Bellemoda Makeup & Beauty Lounge, revealed some of the popular makeup trends this year.

According to Bastareche, the latest makeup trend in 2019 is the glossy skin no makeup look, wherein only light shades of colors are applied and highlighter is used more to achieve the glass skin finish.

"Sa una, full face makeup ang trend, karon ang trending kay ang glossy skin no makeup look. Mura siya'g wala kaayo eyeshadow, wala kaayo kilay pero ang finish nga skin kay murag glossy," Bastareche said.

Even though makeup artists do not really apply the latest makeup trends in their line of work, as they only work on the requests of their clients, Bastareche shared some of the techniques she learned in order to attain the glossy skin no makeup look.

In applying foundation, Bastareche said you will only need for the sheer coverage, not the heavy coverage.

"Like after the foundation, it still feels like skin," Bastareche said.

For the eye shadow, light shade of brown is best to use in order to form, enhance and define the depth of your eyes.

"Do not use any color like red or darker colors kay mailhan sya nga naay eye shadow. You only need brown kay para ma form, ma-enhance ang imong eyes kay once you put foundation, mawala ang natural shadow sa imohang face," she said.

Subtle use of contour and blush should be in a shade closed to your normal pinkish or reddish skin.

"For the kilay, ayaw i-define og ayo kay mailhan man sya nga makeup. So i-fill lang nimo ang mga space sa brow. I suggest the gray to brown shade, a combination of gray and brown color for eyebrows," Bastareche said.

Apply a lower eyeliner using soft brown color and use liptint instead of lipstick to get that no makeup look, she added.

And finally use highlighter so that when the sun hits your skin, it will look glossy or glassy, according to Bastareche.

However, the glossy skin no makeup look is actually not applicable to all kinds of skin.

"If you have a really pimple-ish, lisod sya sa amo nga makeup artist nga if you want us to achieve the glossy type of look tapos you have a skin nga medyo... so we don't recommend it kay di gyud sya ma-achieve, bisan pag mo-try sya sa iyang self, dili sya ma-achieve," Bastareche said.

The glossy skin look is also not recommended to apply when attending night events, she added, saying that it’s better to have the full glam look, which is the full makeup look.

"In terms of trends sa makeup, dili kay nako na sya masunod kay ang magpa makeup man gud here is because of events. I cannot give them the glossy look if moadto sila og event na gabii," Bastareche said.

"Sa amo man gyud, as makeup artist, dili pwede i-apply namo na sya sa tanan kay depende man sa request sa client," she added.

Despite the glossy look as the latest trend in makeup, the full glam and no makeup looks are still in trend and are mostly applied by makeup artists in their line of work.
