INDIVIDUALS who plan to witness the 82nd Araw ng Dabaw activities can heave a sigh of relief as the Davao City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) said they will be lenient in enforcing the Anti-Jaywalking ordinance in event areas.

Expecting a huge crowd to flock to downtown especially during major events, CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude said that they will not enforce the ordinance in areas where major events will be held to let the visitors enjoy without worrying about getting apprehended for jaywalking.

“Along sa activity area or sa parade route, dili nato na i-enforce ang anti-jaywalking, didto ta sa outside, halimbawa Uyanguren ang Quirino Avenue, Matina, they are not involved, mag-implement gyud ta didto. Dili siya exempted dira (We will not enforce anti-jaywalking in parade routes but outside these areas, we will implement the policy),” Abude said in an interview.

CTTMO also bared road closures to be done during major events.

During the International Women’s Day Parade on March 8, one side of the road starting from Roxas Avenue going to C. Bangoy to Bonifacio-Bolton-San Pedro to People’s Park will be closed.

Unlike last year where they encountered a problem during the parade for Hudyaka, this time there will be no more Hudyaka parade as all the participants will be assembled at the People’s Park on March 9 starting from 2 p.m. onwards.

Thus, they made traffic changes. Palma Gil will be a one-way street from Camus going to C. Bangoy as this will be used as drop off point for the participants.

On March 16, for the Parada Dabawenyo, the route will be from Roxas Avenue, left turn to CM Recto Street, then right turn to Bonifacio Street up to Pelayo Street then left turn to San Pedro Street going to Rizal Park.

Abude said they will deploy 300 personnel including the fix post to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
