A TOTAL of 19,623 business establishment have been registered in Bacolod City from January to February 2019, records of the City Mayor’s Office-Permits and Licensing Division showed.
Division head Stela Rose Rayos said the Business One-Stop-Shop (Boss) has ended on Thursday, February 28, and the registration has reached 19,623 or with an increase of 690 business registration compared to 18,933 listed for the same period in 2018.
“This is already a good record and we aim to surpass the 2018 record with a total of 23,187 business registration for the whole year,” she said.
She added that those who failed to avail the Boss for renewal the businessmen should pay the 25 percent surcharges.
The City Council earlier approved the extension of the Boss and the deadline of payment for business permits from January 20 to February 28.
They approved an ordinance that grants 10 percent to all establishments that will renew their business permit until February 28 in full, aside from the exemption of the payment of 25 percent surcharges or penalty when the deadline was extended from January 20 to February 28.
The Boss provided convenience and accessibility to the taxpayers. It includes representatives from the City Health Office, Bureau of Fire Protection, Environment and Natural Resources, and the barangays.
Rayos said on March 15, she will deploy the inspection team to inspect the business establishment in various barangays.
“We will check the business permit because once you are operating a business here, you should also secure a business permit,” she said.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia earlier said the setting up of the one-stop shop operations is part of his vision to make Bacolod very business-friendly.
“We wish to see that business confidence is restored and a climate conducive for business and industry to grow and prosper, is established,” he said. (MAP)
