“Panday Kids,” the modernized version of the legendary story, will star Robert “Buboy” Villar with newbies Julian Trono and Sabrina Man.

The show will feature new characters or new breed of superheroes who will excite everyone's daily evening viewing.

Buboy, who earned the Best Child Star trophy during the 35th MMFF for his role in "Ang Panday," is very excited upon knowing that he will lead the new Kapuso series.

“Natuwa po talaga ako (I was really happy),” he said.

This will be the first lead role of Buboy, which required him to undergo fight training to be able to portray the character of Oliver well.

According to the child star, it wasn't hard to play the lead role amidst all the expectation from him because the management and the crew are helping him get through with every shooting day.

He also said he is okay with Zaijian Jaranilla, the "Miracle Boy" of the rival network who played the part of Santino in now defunct "May Bukas Pa."

"Nagkausap po kami at nagbibiruan pa nga po kami (We were able to talk, we even joked around)," the young star added.

Buboy also said that though he feels people are trying to compete and compare the two of them, he just let that pass away and will keep on doing his best to be able to make his mother network proud of him.

Included in the line-up of stars in the upcoming "Panday Kids" are JC De Vera, Jackie Rice, Iza Calzado, Jolina Magdangal, Marvin Agustin, Ryan Eigenmann, Polo Ravales, Rich Asuncion, Jose Manalo, Tirso Cruz III and many more.

“Panday Kids” will officially start February 22 on GMA Telebabad. (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
