Buhisan B, SOS bag girls touch golds

BUHISAN Elementary School B and SOS Children's Village Davao emerged champions in the All Girls Rugby 7s Invitational Tournament held at Tionko field Saturday, March 2.

BES-B blanked Bankas Heights Elementary School, 1-0, in the finals to clinch the elementary girls tough rugby event while San Roque Central Elementary School outlasted Andres Bonifacio Elementary School, 2-1.

Meanwhile, SOS beat Cameleon Association of Passi City, Iloilo Province to capture the secondary girls gold. The bronze went to Crossing Bayabas National High School Juniors after survived past CBNHS Seniors, 1-0.

Durian Chanee, for its part, topped the youth rugby 7s event by sweeping all three games (15-7, 20-0, 32-7) against COB behind most valuable player (MVP) Novy Luna.

The Barbarians B also shared the limelight by also eking out three wins over Barbarians A (14-5, 17-12, 21-14). Irish Diane Estano of Barbarians B was hailed as MVP.

Philippine Rugby Football Union (PRFU) regional development officer Blessie Kate delos Santos said 18 teams competed in the tournament organized in celebration of the International Women's Month. Ten teams were entered in the U12s touch rugby, four teams in U16s touch rugby and two teams each in youth rugby 7s tackle and women's rugby 7s tackle.

Trophies and medals from the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) were awarded to the winners.
