THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Bacolod City conducted the seminar and training for members of the electoral board for the midterm polls in May.

Acting Bacolod election registrar Ann Janette Lamban said Tuesday, March 5, the seminar and training were held at Bacolod Check-Inn Hotel, and Forest Park Resort in Barangay Taculing from March 4 to 27.

The activities were participated by more than 700 public school teachers in Bacolod City who will served as chairman and poll clerk in the 2019 elections.

Bacolod City has a total of 312,816 voters with 353 clustered precincts and 45 voting centers.

Lamban said the members of the electoral board were trained on how to use the vote counting machines (VCM), their responsibility during elections, among others.

“We expect the cooperation of everybody for peaceful and orderly elections,” she said.

Meanwhile, Lamban said the “Oplan Baklas” team were also deployed to remove the illegal tarpaulins in different barangays.

“We will continue the monitoring and we will sent notices to the violators,” she said.

Lamban said that last week, several oversized tarpaulins of national and local candidates were removed in various areas.

“They should use the identified common poster areas to avoid violations. Candidates must also observe the required sizes of their campaign materials, it should not exceed the two by three feet size,” she said.

Comelec earlier identified at least 92 common poster areas in 61 barangays of the city for the May 13 elections.

Most of the identified common poster areas are highway vacant lot, covered court, gymnasium, and near the barangay hall. (MAP)
