Driver found dead in Tublay; kins seek swift justice

RELATIVES of a driver who was found dead on March 3 are seeking swift justice.

The driver, identified as Jessie Albis Ta-ao, 46, was found dead along a pathway in Sayatan, Tublay.

Tublay Municipal Police said the driver was found around 4 a.m. of March 3. He had an injury above his right ear believed to have been caused by a hard object.

Meanwhile, close to P100,000 cash and other valuables were stolen in separate occasions during the weekend twin parades of the Baguio Flower Festival.

On March 2, tourists Jonathan Calunsag Parawan and Jordan Chua Calix, both from Angeles City, were victimized by burglars in Dontogan Barangay, Baguio City.

The victims said they lost P73,300 worth of cash and other items including a watch, cell phone and sunglasses. A wallet that burglars also took contained a driver’s license, Unified ID, PhilHealth ID, ATM and credit cards.

Investigation disclosed that the victims closed the main door but failed to lock this.

Police said they were able to lift and develop 13 latent prints at the crime scene. The closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera installed in front of the house and other CCTV cameras mounted nearby were being examined for possible identification of the perpetrators.

On March 3, another theft case was reported inside a bar along Leonard Wood Road following the complaint of an 18–year–old resident of Lower Cabinet Hill against Dominick Mendoza Certes, 20.

Investigation showed that the victim and his friends were drinking inside the bar when the suspect approached them and allegedly took a cellular phone worth P12,000.

The bouncer on duty caught the suspect placing the mobile phone in front of his waist as he hurriedly went out of the bar.

Meanwhile, a shoplifter was arrested on March 3 in a grocery along Leonard Wood Road.

Jean Melchor Garcia, 20, and Saipoding Mangondaya Disoma, 20, were handcuffed after failing to pay several grocery items worth P8,308.

Investigation reveals that the suspects were roaming around the grocery stand and afterwards took assorted items. Prior to the incident, the security officer went to the exit to warn other guards and to check on the suspects.

Security officers of the establishment then checked on the handbag full of grocery items, for which the suspects failed to present a proof of purchase.

On March 3, Leo Beltran Bacnis, 35, and a resident of Purok 8, Bakakeng Norte, was also arrested inside a mall in upper Session Road after allegedly taking two pairs of short pants valued at P2,595 without paying for these. (With a report from Lauren Alimondo)
