P87,500 worth of shabu seized in Bacolod

AN ESTIMATED amount of P87,500 worth of suspected shabu or methamphetamine hydrochloride and an illegal firearm were seized in a drug bust in Purok Lubi, Barangay 3, Bacolod City on Tuesday, March 5.

The operatives of Police Station 3 Drug Enforcement Unit arrested was high-value target (HVT) drug suspect Jopril Alit, 22, of Barangay 3.

Police Major Ariel Pico, spokesperson of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), said Wednesday, March 6, Alit was caught selling suspected shabu to a police undercover at 12:15 a.m.

Police recovered from Alit’s possession three sachets of shabu, the P500 marked money, drug paraphernalia, and .38 caliber revolver loaded with five live ammunition.

Alit is a top drug personality under the drugs watchlist of Police Station 3.

Pico said the suspect is detained at the custodial facility of the police station and facing charges for violations of Sections 5, 11, and 15 of Article II of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and RA 10591 in relation to Commission on Elections gun ban.

He said Police Colonel Henry Binas, officer-in-charge of BCPO, also commended the accomplishment of Police Station 3 for their untiring effort in the conduct of drug bust.

“We intensified our campaign against illegal drugs along with other forms of criminality and we will not stop until such time when Bacolod City would drug-free,” he added. (MAP)
