Acosta Cup fetes photo tilt winners

DAVAO City Councilor Mabel Sunga Acosta Thursday, March 7, awarded the winners of the 1st Acosta Cup Women in Action photo contest during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Councilor Acosta also bared that Jerson Flores bagged the first prize while Teofilo Dulay, Jr. and Patrick Joshua Losantas and placed second and third, respectively.

The People’s Choice award went to Mindanao Times photojournalist Bing Gonzales while Mindanao Daily Mirror’s Arjoy Ceniza won the Councilor’s Choice prize.

The photos taken were during the 15th Acosta Cup that concluded last December.

Cash prizes ranging from P5,000 to P2,000 were given to the winners as well as certificates of recognition.

“A total of 29 entries from 10 participants, professionals and amateurs alike, joined the contest,” she said, thanking them for their participation.

She along with DSA president Seth Delos Reyes and Jesus R. Tinapay judged the entries.

Flores, for his part, thanked Acosta Cup and Councilor Acosta for the opportunity given

Acosta also said that this year, they will have separate categories for amateurs and professional photographers.

She added, “I’d like to invite women players and teams to join this year’s tournament. The 16th Acosta Cup Ladies tournament is open regardless of age, school or barangay. For enthusiasts, professional and amateur photographers, you will have another chance in our tournament in October to December.”
