THE Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO) in Negros Occidental is gearing up for the Livestock and Dairy Fair 2019 this coming 26th Panaad sa Negros Festival on April 8 to 14.

For this year’s activity, PVO will showcase the accomplishment and contribution of its different assisted-partner associations in the development and progress of the local livestock and poultry industry.

PVO, in a press release, said local government units have committed to participate in the exhibits showcasing dairy cattle, black pig, ornamental chickens, goats and other poultry animals.

PVO will also involve the animal science students and senior high school students from different schools and universities offering veterinary and agriculture courses for its “Oplan Kasapatan para sa Kabataan” during the week-long activity.

Provincial Veterinarian Renante Decena said letting the students take part in this once a year provincial activity would open their young hearts and minds on the importance of livestock and poultry industry.

Hence, the collaboration between the government and academe is indispensable towards the development of agriculture students as well as to the progress and sustainability of the animal industry in the province, he added.

Over the years, during the Panaad Festival, PVO continues to offer new technical insights in the field of livestock and poultry as well as veterinary services which attract festival goers and animal enthusiasts from the province and its neighboring regions.

Among the highlights in the Livestock and Dairy Fair include the Lechonaad, and lechon boodle fight.

Also, during the festival, there will be seminars relevant to farm management, animal health, nutrition and diseases, gamefowl and poultry management, composo and binalaybay contest, inter-school livestock and poultry quiz show, and pet parade or annual dog walk.

There will also be a display of pet animals from private sectors as well as farm animals from the Capitol-run Negros First Ranch and the Provincial Livestock Breeding Center and Dairy Farm.

These animals are sheep, beef cattle and Manok Negros. Also, winners of this year’s Pasidungog sang mga Manug-Sagod sang Kasapatan will be recognized. (EPN)
