CCA launches Econacra handicrafts store

CITY College of Angeles (CCA) entrepreneurship students of recently launched the Econacra Enterprise store showcasing a unique brand of quality and environment-friendly hand-made crafts.

Econacra is a college-based enterprise owned and managed by the CCA students who will manufacture handicrafts aimed at lessening the usage of plastics in Angelis City and the market.

The store is situated at the ground floor of CCA’s Agyu Tamu Hall which is the former location of the award-winning Lamac Souvenir Store, a shop also launched by the students in 2018.

Econacra Enterprise chief executive officer Paulo Pascual said that the store envisions itself as an enterprise capable of offering modernized and eco-friendly traditional products that can set trends within the market. The enterprise also desires to produce stylish but socially responsible products that could help solve a number of environment-related problems.

Econacra Chief Marketing Officer Hanna Yasmin Datu said that their feasibility study has shown that single-use plastic bags are the most common pollutants and have been a main cause of flooding.

“Making use of our stylish and affordable reusable ‘bayong’ to the market will make a big difference especially in solving our dilemma on plastic waste. As a social responsibility, the store is committed to preserve a healthy environment while reviving traditional accessories and bags by innovating them to fit the needs and taste of the people today,” said

Datu.

Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan extended his congratulations to the entire college for this notable project and endeavor instigated by the home-grown talents and minds of the CCA students.

“I am astounded by these students whose acumens are actively working at a young age. If we continue to produce these kind of top caliber students from CCA, I can proudly say that there is a bright future waiting ahead of our city and our people,” said Pamintuan.

In 2018, the CCA Entrepreneurship students from CCA bagged numerous awards during the Junior Achievement Philippines Mini-Company National Competitions held at the Philippine Trade Training Center in Pasay City.

The awards include: Chief Marketing Officer of the Year (Grand Prize); Second Place: Chief Production Officer of the Year; Chief Finance Officer of the Year (Grand Prize); Chief Human Resource Officer of the Year (Grand Prize); and the Most Outstanding Company Member of the Year award. This particular conferment is given to a member who shows great passion and knowledge about the company operations.

Junior Achievement-Philippines is one of the largest global non-government unit dedicated to addressing fundamental social and economic challenges of young people by educating and empowering them to transform their future and own their economic success. The organization aims to inspire and prepare the younger generation to succeed in a global economy.

For their part, the members of the Econacra Enterprise as well as the college’s teaching force are optimistic that CCA will make the same or surpass such feat this year. The grand launch was held coinciding the CCA’s 7th founding anniversary.

Aside from Pamintuan, the launching was also graced by CCA President Dr. Richard Daenos, Councilor Edu Pamintuan, City First Lady Herminia Pamintuan and the rest of the CCA Board of Trustees.
