Gov’t employee killed, wife hurt in gun attack

AN EMPLOYEE of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was killed while his wife survived although wounded in a gun attack in Zamboanga City, the police said Friday, March 8.

The Police Station 5 of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) identified the victims as Mohammad Ismael, 40, and his wife, Jackilyn.

The police said the victims were rushed but Ismael failed to reach the hospital alive while his wife was admitted for treatment.

Investigation showed the couple-victims were aboard a motorcycle on the way home when repeatedly shot by one of two men riding on another motorcycle that tailed them around 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Callejon Drive in Guiwan village.

Recovered from the crime scene were six empty shells and one deformed slug of caliber .45 pistol.

Investigation continues in a bid to establish the motive as well as the identities of the suspects behind the incident. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
