Taiwan Excellence powers 2nd DIM

TAIWAN Excellence’s support has boosted the staging of the 2nd Davao International Marathon (DIM) set in an out-and-back course from People’s Park in Davao City on Sunday, March 10.

Race director Roel Ano, in an interview on the sidelines of the Taiwan Excellence press conference at Marco Polo Davao yesterday, said in the vernacular that the 2nd DIM will not be as huge as it is now without being powered by Taiwan Excellence.

“This is the first time that they are supporting us. Race bibs for all categories already have timing chips which is a big thing for an event such as this,” Ano said, adding that some 1,800 participants are seeing action in the race that features the premier 42K, 21K, 10K and 5K categories.

Runners from Kenya, India and Great Britain are also expected to compete to give Filipino entries a run for their money.

Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) strategic marketing department deputy executive director Tony Lin, during the launch, said, “This year we try to be the partner of Davao International Marathon, which is a very important marathon in this southern part of the Philippines.”

He urged all participants to enjoy the run and experience the enduring legacy of Taiwan Excellence at its Experience Zone at the DIM Race Village, which will showcase more than 30 pioneering products that have won the prestigious Taiwan Excellence Award.

Ano, during Thursday’s Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum at The Annex of SM City Davao, also said the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office is the sponsor of the cash prizes at stake for top three finishers of all categories since the event is part of the 82nd Araw ng Davao Sports Festival.
