Absolute, Cobra triumph over rivals

ABSOLUTE defeated Pag-Ibig Cobra Berry 109-96 to seal the top seed in Class B while Cobra Citrus scored back-to-back wins to secure the 2nd spot in the Fil-Sino Asia Brewery Cup played at the BTTHS Po Hang Gym.

Cobra Citrus defeated Sunkist 92-84 then followed it up with a victory against Nestea 89-61.

Teams from No. 3 to 5 had a similar 3-3 record, but better goal average put Nestea at No. 3, followed by Summit and Pag-Ibig/Cobra Berry respectively.

Absolute held a slim 25-24 lead but Luigi Coo, Brian Coo and Yan Yan Dy combined for 23 points to push Absolute to a 52-38 advantage at the break, even as Cesar Tan had nine points for Pag-Ibig.

Absolute remained sharp in the second half as Yan Dy, Ramon Khey, Sean Wee scored 16,11 and 10 markers, respectively, to answer the challenge by Pag-Ibig gunners led by Steph Cabaluna, who drilled 17 points, Lito Dumdum with nine, and Tan and Leonel Entes adding eight and seven, respectively.

Dy led Absolute with 24 points, Wee shot 20, Khey added 19, Brian Coo scored 14, Luigi Coo delivered 11 and Efraim Valencia shot eight points.

Tan finished with 17 points for Pag-Ibig, Dumdum made 16, Cris Pascua shot eight and Marc Jalapa had seven.

Dante Ma, Jeff Maningo, Edgar Agana and Emil Agana each scored 20 points in the Cobra Citrus victory over Sunkist. RB Chua led Sunkist with 28 points, with teammates Bren tajonera and Jomi Montinola contributing 13 points apiece.

Edgar Agana scored 18 points and Carl Gineta shot 14 points to spearhead Cobra Citrus against Nestea, led by Joshua Co’s 16 points. (HGD)
