A WEEK after he bared plans to spend P1 billion for the City College of Angeles (CCA), Vice Mayor Bryan Nepomuceno said he will invest another P1 billion in the Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) hospital if he wins in the mayoralty race.
Shunning negative campaigning, the Partido Abe Kapampangan's official mayoralty candidate said he will continue imparting positive messages to convince voters.
This as he pledged to spend at least P1 billion within the next three years for the improvement and operation of Ospital Ning Angeles (ONA) and other health services for the poor if he will be given a chance to serve as local chief executive.
“We know that quality health care and hospitalization is foremost concern of our people especially the poor. This is why under our next administration, we will spend no less than Php1 billion for the improvement and operation of ONA and other health services for the poor,” Nepomuceno said.
Reiterating his priority platform of governance he recently bared during a forum among mayorables organized by the Rotary of Angeles Kuliat, Nepomuceno said fresh funds will be spent for a new hospital building, additional doctors and nurses, ambulance and other equipment, and medicines and medical supplies.
“Hopefully, with all these improvements, ONA will finally be categorized as a Level 3 Hospital by the Department of Health so that patients who need specialized care and treatment don’t have to be referred to the JBL regional public hospital,” Nepomuceno said.
Rallying support behind his platform “Abe-Abe, Saup-Saup Para King Bayung Lakanbalen Angeleño,” Nepomuceno wants to elevate the Level 2 hospital to a Level 3 public hospital.
Based on DOH Administrative Order No. 2012-0012 or the Rules and Regulations Governing the New Classification of Hospitals and other Health Facilities in the Philippines, a Level 3 hospital must have the following: accredited residency training program in the four major clinical services, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Unit, Ambulatory Surgical Unit, Dialysis Clinic, Tertial Laboratory with Histopathology, Blood Bank, and 3rd Level X-ray equipment.
Nepomuceno said that from 2010 to 2018, the city has already spent some P1.215 billion for ONA where 95,421 patients were admitted for treatment, an additional 73,675 people treated in its Out-Patient Department, and another 59,678 dialysis patients at its Renal Care Unit—a legacy project of incumbent Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan.
Nepomuceno cited the establishment of a Satellite Treatment Center for Multi-Drug Resistant TB Patients for patients undergoing nine to twelve months of treatment not to travel to JBL regional hospital in the City of San Fernando;
He also mentioned the construction of new and bigger Balibago Health Center that will pass PhilHealth-accreditation for the provision of Maternity Care Package for mothers and newly-born babies.
Nepomuceno is also eyeing for the creation of a City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) for the effective prevention and monitoring of the outbreak of highly contagious diseases and help the city in planning and implementing public health programs.
He vowed to work for additional doctors, nurses, medical technologists, pharmacists, health educators and data encoders, psychiatrists, and others for improved health services in the city including at the Bale Angeleño HIV Satellite Treatment Hub and for the MediKalinga program.
