Unang mieksena si Janine sa TV singing competition nga “Born To Be A Star”.
Mga renditions niya ang nagkadaiyang Filipino hit songs nga gigamit as soundtracks sa mga Pinoy movies.
Sama na lamang sa version niya sa kanta sa Itchyworms’ nga “Di Na Muli” alang sa “Sid & Aya (Not A Love Story)” film.
Si Janine sab ang mikanta sa theme song sa pelikulang “Ulan” nila Nadine Lustre and Carlo Aquino.
Sa pakigtsikahan kaniya ning bag-o lang, gishare sa singer ang iyang kahinam sa musika, arts ug uban pa.
SunStar: What was your first single?
Janine: After I signed with Viva, I wrote and released a song entitled Fall.
Sunstar: When and how you started writing songs?
Janine: I started writing songs when I joined our worship ministry in our church. My songs are about my authentic experiences in life. To date, maybe I already wrote over 20 songs since I was 16. I am currently writing a Filipino song. And I’m excited about it!
Sunstar: What song would best represent your life now?
Janine: “Happy” by John Legend, simply because I am super happy with my life now.
Sunstar: What songs do you listen to when you are stuck in traffic?
Janine: A lot. More of Beyonce, Adele, Michael Jackson, Queen, and OPM songs.
Sunstar: Are you also into dancing?
Janine: Yes. I am actually having my workshops with G-Force to improve my dancing skills.
Sunstar: If you were not a singer today, what profession would you like to pursue?
Janine: I’d like to be a businesswoman. Before I joined show business, I was a business major student. But I think my business will still be music-related, like a recording studio business.
Sunstar: Who else do you want to collaborate with in the OPM industry?
Janine: Sarah Geronimo and Regine Velasquez.
SunStar: If you want to have a duet with one artist, dead or alive, who would he/she be?
Janine: I’d like to sing on stage with Michael Jackson or Lady Gaga.
Sunstar: Tell us about your work for the movie Ulan.
Janine: It was great doing the song. We had a discussion before recording it. It is a throwback song by Rivermaya and I should do it in a way that would fit to the film. My version is a little bit slower because the film is somehow mysterious.
Sunstar: What are your memories with rain?
Janine: A lot. When I was a child, we used to play outdoors; we play Patintero with my friends even if it’s raining. Rain connects to my childhood. I think children of today’s generation should experience that too, it’s fun!
