P600K shabu seized in Bacolod

ABOUT 90 grams of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) worth P600,000 and illegal firearms were seized by police operatives in Purok Lison, Barangay 1, Bacolod City Friday, March 8.

The drug bust conducted by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Occidental and Police Station 2 also led to the arrest of Benjamin Montalvo, 44, and Benjamin Agravante, 50.

The police said the suspects were caught selling suspected shabu to an undercover policeman at 12:57 p.m.

Police recovered from the suspects’ possession 48 sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, improvised shotgun and three pieces of 12-gauge shotgun shell ammunition.

The police said the suspects had been under surveillance for almost six months. They served mostly trike drivers, students and out-of-school youths in the area.

The suspects were detained at the custodial facility of Police Station 2 and are facing charges for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and RA 10591 in relation to the Commission on Elections gun ban.
