SEERS debunks Pompee’s accusations

A REAL property company composed of city hall employees dismissed accusations of mayoral candidate Pompee La Viña that they are committing corruption in forming their corporation.

In its official statement, the SEERS Property Management Group Inc. said the private corporation is “duly organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the Philippines, and abides with all laws, rules and regulations.”

The group said some unscrupulous individuals and groups have started spreading false information about SEERS in an attempt to tarnish the company and its board of directors, alleging “to advance their distorted political interest.”

“We denounce this malicious, hostile, defamatory misinformation aimed to vilify hardworking, law-abiding, and honest individuals whose only aim is to establish a legitimate company distinct and separate from their work”, the statement reads.

The corporation said they never engaged in any prohibited acts, and not have contractual or financial dealings with the city government where they work.

The group said the political candidates who are behind these accusations, should not pour their financial resources to smear campaigns, but instead invest it to education, health care, and other opportunities to marginalized communities.

“We trust the public to exercise prudence and discernment in the appreciation of real issues versus fake news. Let us not allow trolls to influence our better judgment,” the statement said.

A Facebook page called “Cagayan Kontra Kawat” has started uploading the videos of the names of the city hall employees accusing them as thieves.

Mayoral candidate Pompee La Viña also called on several government agencies like the Office of the Ombudsman to investigate the corporation.

“Kining SEERS sila mismo mga department head sa siyudad nag-negosyo sa real estate (People behind SEERS are the ones who are department heads in the city, who make business in real estates). Ang appearance of it is already a graft and corruption, it’s already a conflict of interest,” La Viña said.

The SEERS company is composed of City Administrator Teddy Sabuga-a, City Information Officer Maricel Rivera, City Accountant lawyer Beda Joy Elot, City Budget Officer lawyer Percy Salazar, and Office of Community Affairs officer-in-charge Oliver Egypto.
