“WHEN August, our Akita, was just two months old, we moved to Manila for a few months for work, And of course, we brought him with us. We lived in Eastwood in Quezon City, which is a very pet-friendly area with many dogs and people. August had so many dog and people friends, and we had groups of dog owners that we walked with twice a day to keep him active. He was so friendly to everyone and became well-known to everyone who lived in Eastwood. Everywhere we went, people didn’t even know our names. To them, we were just ‘August’s parents.’”
What’s the best thing about your pets?
“Our two dogs are always there for us through ups and downs. They have been with us when we celebrated the good times and then have curled up next to us when we are at our lowest. When we come home tired from work or maybe had a bad day, they are there with smiling faces to welcome us home and they make us happy.”
What tip can you give people who want to be responsible pet owners?
“Having a pet is a commitment to your time and energy. Even if you are tired, when you come home, spend time with them. Dogs are social animals. They aren’t meant to be left to themselves all the time. Walk them. Love them. Talk to them. While you may have a lot of people and activities in your life, you are your pet’s entire life.”
