DAVAO City's Batang Pinoy National Finals-bound teams will try to test their mettle in the 82nd Araw ng Davao Under-19 Open Beach Volleyball Tour that will unfurl on March 23 and 24 at the Felis Resort Complex, Matina Aplaya, Davao City.

Philippine Volleyball Federation (PVF) regional director D'Artagnan "Daks" Yambao bared this during a Facebook interview with SunStar Davao Tuesday, March 12.

He said, "Magdula atong BP Teams kahit mga kuya at ate ang kalaban for exposure (Our Batang Pinoy teams will play even if they will be pitted against older and more experienced players)."

Yambao was pertaining to Batang Pinoy 2019 Mindanao leg girls silver medal team of April Joy Gordova and Khalia Sinsuat and boys bronze medal pair of Jayrad Perfecio Adeva and Ryu Ampan.

The Batang Pinoy 2019 Mindanao Leg was designed for 15-under athletes while the upcoming Araw ng Dabaw event features the boys and girls under-19 categories. Cutoff birthday is March 25, 2001.

Yambao added, "This year, the city only provided referees fees and medals. Dava (Davao Volleyball Association) will sort out the cash prizes for this event."

The champion teams will each receive P2,500 while the next two placers will take home P2,000, P1,500 and P1,000.

Last day of registration is on March 22 in the tournament that is part of the 82nd Araw ng Dabaw Sports Festival presented by the city government of Davao through the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office.
