FOR the second time, revelers can feast on “lechon baka” or roast beef during the Parada Davaoeño, a socio civic parade, on Saturday, March 16, in line with the celebration of the 82nd Araw ng Dabaw.

This was bared by Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Director Alexander Tagum on Tuesday, March 12.

He said the police are intensifying security measures in anticipation of the huge crowd that will avail of the free lunch along the stretch of C.M. Recto Avenue.

He, however, did not give figures yet as to how many cows will be roasted.

“(It is) confirmed (that there will be roast beef) kaya we are preparing for the security deployment to the venue. We are expecting a mammoth crowd for that activity wherein cooked rice, lechon baka and manok will be distributed free for the fiesta crowd,” Tagum said.

Parada Davaoeño is among the highlights of the annual celebration.

In 2018, Tagum said there were no less than 50,000 revelers who braved the heat and long queue just to avail of the free food prepared by the City Government of Davao in collaboration with the Pilipinong may Puso Foundation and Petron Foundation.

The food packs were distributed to the public after the Araw ng Dabaw Parada as “a show of appreciation by the city government” for the people of Davao.

There were a total of 50 pieces of “lechon baka” during last year’s revelry.

Meanwhile, C.M. Recto Street will be temporarily closed on Saturday, March 16, to give way for the Parada Davaoeño.

Tagum assured that there will be ground personnel who will man the activity area as well as the parade route to control the traffic and ensure the event’s smooth flow.
