AFTER guiding the Oro lady junior dribblers to a title finish in the 2019 Batang Pinoy Mindanao Qualifier, promising coach Catrina June Pong-Biongcog hopes to give one for the Corpus Christi cagebelles in the city’s inter-public hoopfest as guest team from the private side.
“Nag-improve ang mga bata kay dedicated pud sila sa practice. So, I’m hoping for one this time around,” said Catrina, the school’s first ever basketball stalwart winning numerous accolades for Corpus Christi when she’s still in high school loops.
Now on its third season, the Cagayan de Oro City (CDOC) Inter-Public Schools basketball championships will culminate on Sunday, March 17 at the Nazareth gym.
“Nagkabibo ang inter-public tourney especially with the presence of guest teams from private schools like Corpus Christi and Xavier University. Local basketball fans should not miss the finals on Sunday,” said tournament overseer Raul Fuentes.
After the battle for third place in the morning, coach Pong-Biongcog’s Corpus Christi ladies will face in the afternoon the mighty MOGCHS (Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School) lady Cavaliers right after the 1 p.m. elementary championship between the City Central School and Xavier University Grade School (XUGS).
City High (CDO-NHS) and Agusan National High School will dispute the 15-under boys diadem, followed by the much-awaited titular showdown, pitting City High against MOGCHS in the premier 17-under boys bracket.
