ROXAS Night Market is known for its 3F's -- food, fashion, and fun. It provides its visitors a variety of food, items, and services they can choose from whenever they visit the night market.
The five-year-old market has continued to draw in tourists and locals despite the challenges it faced in recent years as it welcomes 3,000 visitors on average every day.
As of January 2019, City Administrator for operations Lawrence Bantiding said around 470 tenants, which are being rotated in a three-month shift, offers accessories, ready to wear clothes (RTWs), food, and massage.
With the significant number of visitors, the city received more than 3,000 applications this year to sell in the night market but it could only cater 130 tenant accessories, 130 RTW tenants, 116 food vendors, and more than a hundred of massage therapists in each three month shift.
Meanwhile, Jude Jefferson L. Micairan, 21, a student from Ateneo de Davao University, said in an online interview that most of the time, he enjoys a dinner of pork barbecue and sinugbang bangus at the Night Market. He said the food here are affordable and delcious.
"Mahinumdum pud nako paghuman pud nakog kaon naga pangita kog durian ice cream or mango float (After dinner, I would have durian ice cream or mango float)," Micairan added.
Despite his busy schedule today, Micairan always finds time to satisfy his cravings at Roxas Night Market.
Kimberly Janne Bautista and Francis Benedict Quejadas, university students, said they love to go shopping at the night market because of its affordable prices. They said they find a lot of fashionable clothes at the ukay-ukay section that are great to wear as their Outfit of the Day (OOTD).
"Lastly, we shop because it is also a way of supporting small time business enterprises in Davao,” they said.
When it was founded in 2014, it was meant to clear the streets of Davao City from nightime vendors. Now it has become one of the tourist destinations in the city. Whether it is for the food or for the fashion, when you come here with your friends, you will definitely have some fun.
