RTA mulls temporary traffic scheme

THE Roads and Traffic Administration (RTA) is implementing a one-year temporary traffic scheme to pave the way for construction work that seeks to improve Kolambog creek channel.

The traffic scheme has started since January 29 and is expected to end on January 29, 2020. This is due to the channel improvement of Kolambog creek from Camaman-an to BCIR and Macajalar Bay outfall, including the Road Right of Way in Barangay Lapasan.

Mayor Moreno signed an executive order for its implementation, saying a special traffic scheme is needed in all areas affected to alleviate traffic problems.

The project will be implemented in four phases. Lanes are temporarily closed for the Phase 1, 2, 3, & 4 construction, making the other side of the lanes a two-way traffic passage and parking is prohibited.

Parking in Limketkai Avenue, JR Borja Avenue, Hayes Street, Camaman-an, Indagan Roads, San Miguel Street will be strictly prohibited.

A temporary truck ban including buses will also be implemented along the roads affected, from 7a.m.-9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“We ask for everyone's patience and understanding with this temporary inconvenience, as well as your cooperation by abiding with the implementing rules and regulations to avoid further cause of congestion and delay,” the RTA said.

The traffic body warned that vehicles found parking in no parking zones will be penalized. (PJ Orias)
