POLICEMEN filed on Thursday, March 14, charges against the driver of the sports utility vehicle (SUV) that rammed an amusement center in a mall in Carmona, Cavite.
Carmona Police Chief Major Rommel Carcellar said Rosendo Mamucod, 66, was charged with reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
Carcellar said based on Mamucod's accounts, the driver fell asleep while waiting for his wife. He was inside the parked vehicle and was awaken after his SUV suddenly accelerated and rammed into the amusement center of Walter Mart.
Killed in the incident was Rollen Sartiel, 22, while at least 12 others, including children, were injured.
The injured victims were brought to a hospital for treatment and were all discharged Thursday, March 14.
Mamucod, who was still recovering from stroke months ago, was also rushed to the hospital after his blood pressure shot up. (SunStar Philippines)
