BEFORE I talk about the 11th Phoenix Open, I would like to congratulate our Davao players who competed during the recent 72nd PAL Interclub in Cebu.
Congratulations to the Davao City Golf Club Team for winning first place in the Friendship Division. The members are: Edipolo Caturan, Ian Dagatan, Alvin Tesado, Rodolfo Luna, Ryan James Guiang, Randy Ceniza, Russel Mon Salazar, Godfrey Costinares, Rommel Lee and Alro Paglinawan.
Congratulations also to Rancho Palos Verdes Team 1 for winning third place in the Aviator Division. The members are: Roderick Lo, Christopher Tan, Jong Tan Jr., Ninot Galicia, EJ Casintahan, Jose Addy Briones, Leo Yap, Jorge Martinez, JP Marfori and Leo Magno.
Congratulations also to Kuresh Samanodi of Apo Golf Club for winning first place in the Individual category, Flight B.
Wow, so many winners this year. And do not worry about the ones who did not make it. They celebrated regardless. I visited the club during competition and before 10 a.m., there was beer already in some tables. That’s the spirit!
PAL Interclub isn’t just for competition. It is vacation time! Food, sightseeing, and whatever beverage you drink, to the max. Cheers Boys! Congrats!

Happy Araw ng Dabaw!!! It’s the time of the year when we celebrate our city’s birthday. A lot of activities will be happening during this festive event, including the biggest golfing event of the year—The Phoenix Open, which is on its 11th year.
The 11th Phoenix Open set tomorrow, March 16, is being presented by Phoenix Petroleum and Pioneer Insurance, co-presented by Harley-Davidson, Tata Motors, and Mechatrends Contractors Corp, and, powered by Phoenix Pulse Technology.
Hole in One prizes. One million pesos, a Harley-Davidson 2019 Sportster Iron 883, two Tata Manza Petrol cars, and P 100,000 pesos worth of Phoenix Petroeum fuels and lubricants.
Entry fee is P7,500. Expensive? Think again. You can win in the individual category, the partner division and the team division. You have four chances at winning any of the hole-in-one prizes. And need I remind you, there will probably be around 2 or 3 or 4 holes in the par 3’s. The chances of winning just got bigger. Who knows, you can be the lucky one this year.
No time to play? If I were you, just practice your par 3 yardage at the driving range. As they say, the more you practice, the bigger your chance at being lucky. Right?
And if you don’t win anything, remember, you still receive giveaways—a Rudy project golf shirt and cap, a Phoenix golf bag travel cover, and a Phoenix golf umbrella.
And don’t forget the raffle prizes during the awards ceremony. For this one, you don’t need to practice. You just need to pray. Haha!
