Police nab woman linked to salisi gang

A 28-year-old woman believed to be a member of a big salisi gang in Cebu Province was caught in Barangay Alang-alang, Mandaue City on Wednesday morning, March 13.

The suspect, identified as Irene Pagobo Pelayo, was caught by a boarding house owner carrying the valuables of the tenants.

The owner sought her neighbors’s help before she placed Pelayo under citizen’s arrest and turned her over to the police.

Centro Police Station Chief Aldrin Villacampa said four laptop units, chargers and a tablet were recovered from the suspect, a native of Bogo City.

Pelayo also yielded receipts of pawned gadgets that she had allegedly stolen from other people.

Villacampa said there were persons who visited Centro Police Station and identified Pelayo as the person who stole their valuables.

One of the complainants, Reynan Batain, uploaded on his Facebook account footage of the burglary committed by Pelayo, which was captured by a closed circuit television camera in the boarding house.

Pelayo was residing in Barangay Punta Engaño in Lapu-Lapu City before her arrest. She had reportedly victimized others in Cebu City, according to Villacampa. (From FMD of SuperBalita Cebu, KAL)
