THE chief psychiatrist of Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) said Friday, March 15, that the persons who killed 16-year-old Christine Lee Silawan were possibly under the influence of illegal drugs when committed the crime.

Dr. Rene Obra, head of VSMMC-Center for Behavioral Sciences, said it could also be possible that the killers are mentally disturbed.

“It's difficult to comment, but one thing sure they have no respect for humans due to some form of psychopathology,” Obra said, adding he was stunned after hearing Silawan's gruesome murder.

“How I wish I can examine these suspects,” he added.

Silawan's body was found on a vacant lot in Barangay Bankal, Lapu-Lapu City on Monday, March 11.

The killers had skinned the girl's face and stabbed her 30 times.

Silawan's right ear, esophagus and tongue were removed.

Obra said only a mentally unstable person can carry out such brutal crime. (SunStar Cebu)
