UP Mindanao Men's Football Cup opens

IT’S all systems go in the University of the Philippines (UP) Mindanao Men's Football Cup that unfurls Saturday, March 16, at the Davao City-UP Sports Complex Stadium.

Moira Isabella Calizo, one of the organizers, said that 10 teams are entered in the three-day competition.

Competing are the UP Mindanao men's football varsity team, Ateneo Blue Knights Football Club (FC), Davraa-Palaro Team, Cathiana Hearts FC, Mintal Interage FC, Calinan FC, Impeesa Society FC, Southshield FC, PCT-Medvil FC, and Oi Rogers FC.

The tournament is divided into two rounds.

Calizo, via Facebook Messenger, said, "The Round 1 (9-Aside) is set March 16 and 17 whiel Round 2 (11-Aside) is on March 18. The top six teams in Round 1 will advance to Round 2."

The champion and the next three placers will receive awards as well as the fair play awardee.

She said the bootfest aims to prepare the UP Mindanao squad that will compete in the upcoming State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA) Regional Meet in April which will be held inCompostela Province.

The event is organized by the UP Mindanao women's football varsity team in partnership with Siki ni Obli.
