DAVAO City Council committee chair on public works and highways Jesus Joseph Zozobrado assured that concerns will be addressed before the construction of the first phase of the Mindanao Railway Project (MRP) commences.

Zozobrado said that Department of Transportation (DOTr) assistant secretary for project development – Mindanao cluster Eymard Eje already told him that all of the concerns regarding the MRP will be brought to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.

“Ingon si Eymard Eje, he will bring this attention to Tugade for consideration ug pangitaan nila og favorable action,” he said.

Zozobrado said that DOTr will still look into the case of the Monteritz Classic Estates Homeowners Association, Inc. wherein its members expressed dismay as 40 homeowners and 67 lot owners will be affected as the railway project would traverse inside the subdivision.

MCEHAI president Jet Villamor, in a previous report, said that they will exhaust all legal means if their appeal for MRP realignment will not be considered.

Zozobrado said that DOTr still has to check if re-aligning the railway along Ma-a Diversion road would be feasible.

“Sa Diversion Road man gud, mutungtong man gud ka og dagko nga poste diha sa daplin, that will affect the sides of the existing roads, nga manginahanglan na pud og road widening (In the Diversion Road, large posts would be needed for the path of the railway, which would affect existing roads since a road widening will be needed),” he said.

In the case of South Pacific Golf and Residencial Estates, Zozobrado said that an underground subway is being proposed so that residents along that area will not be affected by the noise brought by the passage of the railway.

“Cut and cover and design sa railway diraa sa South Pacific, diin sa ilalom paagion ang railway. Murag subway style. (The design for the railway path for South Pacific will be ‘cut and cover’, wherein the path of the railway will be subway style),” he said.
