Fire razes 8 houses in Sibugay town

EIGHT houses made of light materials were razed by fire that hit a village in Ipil, the capital of Zamboanga Sibugay province, the police said Saturday, March 16.

The Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Police Office reported the incident happened around 3:20 p.m. Friday at Purok New Jerusalem in Don Andres village, Ipil.

The police said the fire broke out at the residence of Dante Alipan and rapidly spread to the seven neighboring houses owned by Saul Rublico, Rochlem Rublico, Lusviminda Rublico, Mercidita Cocolan, Jerry Huegos, Eliciyo Vidad, and Jemboy Saladaga.

Investigation showed that some children were seen playing matches at the residence of Alipan before the fire broke out.

The police said there was no reported casualties during the fire incident that damage of which was placed at P200,000. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
