8 nabbed, P84,000 ‘shabu’ seized in anti-drug operations

EIGHT people including a teacher and a government employee were arrested while some P84,000 worth of suspected “shabu” seized in separate anti-drug operations on Friday in Zamboanga Peninsula, the police said Saturday, March 16.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as the following: Ryan Gabunilas Cabilao, a teacher and listed as high-value target drug personality; Edmundo Rais Abalos; Sweet Ann Basco Resuelo; Mia Grace Buligan Panganuran; Almudzner Hussin Estino; Musin Ampong Basrhe; Dorix Elorsa Abesamis; and Jefferson Alao Velez, an employee of Margosatubig Regional Hospital.

Galvez said Cabilao, Abalos, Resuelo and Panganuran were arrested around 9:30 a.m. Friday in a hotel in Purok Maabtikon in Paglaum village, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

She said seized from their possession were some P34,000 worth of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing five grams and packed in 33 small-sizes heat-sealed plastic sachets, illegal drug paraphernalia and P1,000 marked money.

The police official said Estino and Basrhe were arrested in a drug bust at 4:15 p.m. in Arena Blanco village, Zamboanga City.

She said confiscated from them were some P50,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in 11 heat-seal plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

She said that Abesamis and Velez yielded three plastic sachets of suspected shabu when arrested around 10:30 p.m. at Purok San Francisco in Poblacion Margosatubig village, Zamboanga del Sur.

Also seized from them were P500 marked money and illegal ldrug paraphernalia.

The separate anti-drug operation were carried out jointly by the police and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency. (SunStar Philippines)
