SENATORIABLES rode floats bearing their campaign slogans, ballot number, and their faces during the Parada Dabawenyo Saturday, March 16.
The five-hour Parada Dabawenyo, a socio-civic military parade and one of the highlights of the 82nd Araw ng Davao, reached a record breaking 447 contingents from both public and private sectors, including those from the senatorial and party-list candidates. All of them are endorsed by Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) party chair, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.
The senatoriables also gave out election paraphernalia like flyers, fans, and t-shirts during the parade.
During the parade, Duterte-Carpio was spotted to be seated with Sonny Angara, Francis Tolentino, Jiggy Manicad, Imee Marcos, Bong Revilla Jr., Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa and JV Ejercito. Actor Robin Padilla was also spotted along with the mayor and the candidates.
Duterte-Carpio reiterated in a previous interview that all of the “peace-loving” people, including candidates, are welcome to participate in the celebration, but the candidates will no longer be given time to speak onstage because the organizers wanted to focus on the parade.
She said that the candidates were already given exposure in their respective floats.
Meanwhile, the lady mayor said that she is happy with this year’s “Araw”.
“Nakita nako nga nagadako ug nagakusog ang pagmahal sa mga Dabawenyo sa atong siyudad sa Davao. Ug sa mga suporta sa mga non-Dabawenyo,” Duterte-Carpio said.
Parada Dabawenyo in-charge Erwin Alparaque previously said that distribution or throwing of election paraphernalia, including t-shirts, fans and wrist bands while at the parade is not allowed.
Some election paraphernalia were littered in some portions of the streets where the parade passed by.
