2 Oro boxers to compete in 2019 Arafura Games

TWO members of Cagayan de Oro City’s amateur boxing team will be representing the Team Philippines in the 2019 Arafura Games which will be held in Darwin Australia on April 26 until May 4.

John Ignatius Macas of men’s 49-52 kilograms category and Shera Mae Jacinto of women’s 48-51 kilogram category will be representing the Philippine boxing team in Arafura Games, according to Cagayan de Oro boxing team head coach Elmer Pamisa.

Pamisa said he was hopeful that Macas and Jacinto will earn medals in the said international competition as the two boxers have been preparing for it during their training in Baguio City’s training camp.

The Arafura Games is a well-developed international multi-sport event that attracted participants from the Asia Pacific region and beyond.

This year, it will showcase the Northern Territory’s unique arts, culture, history and trade and investment opportunities. It is an event through which friendship, goodwill, and understanding between competing nations and the Northern Territory is fostered.

Apart from boxing, the Team Philippines will also be participating in badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, muay thai, sepak takraw, swimming, table tennis, tennis and weightlifting.
