Philhealth to reward Province

FOR having no arrears and for paying its dues on time, the Cebu Provincial Government will receive an award from the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth).

In a letter to Gov. Hilario Davide III, Dr. Francisco Soria Jr., PhilHealth vice president member management group, said the award is “for being the second highest number of enrollment with no arrears and on-time payment from calendar year 2016-2018 under the Sponsored Program.”

In an interview last Wednesday, March 12, Provincial Health Office (PHO) Chief Rene Catan said they found out about the award last Tuesday.

For this year, the Provincial Capitol spent around P69 million for its PhilHealth enrollees, while it paid P72 million for its enrollees in 2018.

Catan said that last year, the Capitol collected around P480 million from PhilHealth through its Provincial and district hospitals.

“That’s why it’s important that we remit payments of our members so the Province can maintain its status and capability to pay for the services of doctors and hospitals,” he said in Cebuano.

Catan will receive the award, which will be a plaque of recognition, on behalf of the Provincial Government during the Stakeholder Recognition at the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City on Monday, March 18.
