CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The opening salvo of this year’s Castaway Music Festival at SM City Pampanga has brought together 40,000 music lovers and sound enthusiasts in the biggest homegrown music festival outside to date.

It was a night to remember at SM City Pampanga as crowds of millenials trooped to the said mall for a night of party and dancing. And unlike the usual rowdy music festivals, Castaway is notable for the discipline of its organizers and even the people who attend the event.

SM City Pampanga attendees reached around 40, 000 people as youngsters rushed to see and party with the top bands and musicians in the Philippines. The evening showcased stunning performances from bands featuring Franco, Moonstar 88, Neo Colors, Rivermaya, The Dawn and This Band over the weekend at SM Amphitheatre.

The simple experiment to bring the best in contemporary music together started in 2014. Due to its obvious success and the unbelievable line up last year, there was a sudden demand to have another version of the event this year which SM City Pampanga organizers said would be a yearly thing as long as people would clamor for it.

SM City Public Relations Officer Rain Cervantes said the event aims to highlight the mall’s summer celebration with a perfect gathering of the best bands and performers that the young generation, and even the not-so-young, can easily identify with.

Some 12 other SM malls will also be hosting the festival for the rest of March and the second week of April.
