Abrigo: On matters of laudable service

DOG with tag is usually friendly, disciplined and secured for it has a sense of belongingness. This impression is not only true to pets but also applicable to human, especially to office staff sitting on the front desk as front liner of the office she represented.

This column with many other clients wonder if the lady at Window One of the Personnel Department at DepEd Davao City Division could give us better impression than to a dog with tag. This government employee wears nothing -ID, smile, politeness, demeanor and everything a front desk staff requires in dealing with clients.

It is hard to size her up from dandruff to athlete’s foot but my impression is either she is not happy with her name or designation for not wearing her ID, not proud of her work, not satisfied of her salary, or the office she represented is not imposing proper decorum while performing the official business.

What irked me most is that she won’t accept the TIN Verification Slip with QR Code and signed by no less than the Chief of BIR Client Support Section, Liza Jane G. Taojo of RDO 113 certifying and recognizing per record that a client has already been transferred from RDO 105 to RDO 113.

Obviously, Google may have failed to educate her that QR code is the latest security feature of a document and rubber stamp is outdated. She reminded me of a K1 learner who cried protest against the teacher for putting a Very Good rating over a long check mark on his coloring book. What the child anticipated was a star-shaped rubber stamp on his arm. I could forgive the boy’s innocence that the mark on his book is more satisfactory and relevant than the ink on his arm.

In fairness to this employee, thanks for the commitment in front of me and her officer to comply it with patient at the soonest time if only to help a teacher who haven’t received yet her salary since December 2018 because of that document.

While this column criticizes bureauCRAZY, it also praises with gratefulness few good men of exemplary performance in their respective offices at the Department of Education, like Dr. Evelyn Fetalvero, the Assistant Regional Director of DepEd 11 who rendered beyond five o’clock service with her secretary Ms. Ann; Dr. Emma Camporedondo, the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent of Davao City Division; Dr. Milagros Supera, the District Supervisor of Maa District; and Mr. Gerard S. Pil, Administrative Officer V of Davao City Division office. To all of you, thank you for resolving the dilemma related to the documents of a transferee teacher. You truly performed a laudable service!
