P35M drug center project up for rebidding

THE City Government of Bacolod will conduct the rebidding of the P35 million Bacolod City Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Center project this week.

Sally Abelarde, head secretariat of the City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (Cadac), said that during the previous bidding, the contractor failed to comply with all the requirements, so there will be a rebidding of the project anytime this week.

“We have to observe due process in the conduct of bidding. The interested bidder should comply with the requirements,” said Abelarde.

In 2018, Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) chairman Catalino Cuy led the groundbreaking rites of the drug rehabilitation facility at the City Government-owned lot at the City Agriculture Office Demo Farm in Barangay Alijis.

DDB already turned over the check worth P10 million to the City Government for the construction of the rehabilitation building. The remaining P25 million will be shouldered by the City Government.

The rehabilitation center will have an administration building, male and female quarters, multi-purpose and mess building and pavilion. It will be constructed with a bed capacity of 52 people.

Abelarde said the Bacolod City is hopeful that this time, the bidder will be compliant and pass the bidding requirements so they can start the construction of the drug rehabilitation facility.

She said the members of Cadac will also hold a meeting on Monday, March 18 at the Bacolod Government Center to discuss the third batch of drug rehabilitation of drug reformists.

Last year, more than 100 drug reformists in Bacolod completed the Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP).

The CBDRP was initiated by Cadac in various barangays.

The drug dependents were among those who surrendered to the 10 police stations in Bacolod. They were endorsed to Cadac for rehabilitation.

The drug rehabilitation team is composed of personnel from the City Health Office, Bacolod City Police Office and the Department of Social Services and Development.
