Music Lab
SunStar Best of Cebu 2018 winner for Best Music Shop, Music Lab is a one-stop shop for a musician’s needs. Whether the goal is to purchase a new instrument or to enroll one’s self for music lessons, most things musical can be found here at Music Lab, located in Mango Square Mall, Cebu City. If you feel like there’s something off with your favorite guitar, bring it to Music Lab where a technician can give you an assessment of what your instrument needs to be able to perform on the next level. Personally, I love the shop’s setup job on my Gibson Les Paul 2017 Tribute T. It came out of the factory with a gauge .09 string set. Now it rocks on .11s.
Pitch Overhaul
I haven’t had experience of sending a guitar over to these guys for repairs. But! I know that some of my trusted guitarist friends (who play guitar at a way more pro level than I do) love Pitch Overhaul’s services. Pitch Overhaul usually handles transactions through Facebook, so you can search for the brand online. Personally, I’m excited about the fact that they are willing to take on the challenge of not only repairing guitars but also guitar effects pedals. That goes to show you that the brand’s expertise goes beyond mechanical labor and delves into the electronic.
Edz Guitar Workshop
This guitar shop is one of the stores closest to my heart for sentimental reasons. I first took lead guitar lessons under guitarist Edgar Anciano of The Abyss. Also, my first electric guitar was a custom-made “Mockingbird” that was made in this shop. A few years (and guitars acquired) after, this was where I brought my Ibanez Artcore AS-73 for its headstock repair/reinforcement. The guitar fell off a guitar stand, after a kid running around knocked it to the ground. As the store’s name suggests, Edgar is the man in-charge of the store located on 153 A.S. Fortuna St., Bakilid, Mandaue City, Cebu.
According to its Facebook, it positions itself more than just a music store, as it offers music lessons and services as well.
