Search for another missing biker launched

ANOTHER biker went missing during the weekend in Itogon, Benguet.

Authorities have dispatched a search and rescue team after a biker, identified as Joseph Bolintiam, went missing after he was separated from a group of bikers in Barangay Tinongdan.

According to a police report, at around 10 a.m. of March 15, a group of bikers registered at Poblacion, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya and started their ride up Guiweng, Tinongdan, going up to Mt. Ugo Summit, but Bolintiam might have taken a different route due to several junction trails along the way.

At about 3 p.m., he called his co-bikers saying he was lost. His mobile phone could no longer be reached.

Barangay officials, members of the barangay peacekeeping action team, volunteers from Barangay Tinongdan, personnel from Itogon Municipal Police Station, and Bayombong, Vizcaya responders were dispatched for a search and rescue operation.

The Philippine Air Force tried to do an aerial search but this did not push through due to the foggy weather in the area.

The search and rescue operation was temporarily suspended for the night on Monday, March 18.

A biker, identified as “Matt”, was rescued also in Itogon Saturday afternoon, March 16, by the 505th Search and Rescue group and tactical operations group under the Philippine Air Force.

The biker got lost and separated from his group on Thursday, March 14.
