Pangan: Solemn and holy observance

THE holy observance of the Holy Week by Catholics and Christians around the world allows us to take a respite from our worldly activities.

Time to pause and recollect the sacrifices of the Holy One which tradition and records disclose that were the turning point of man's redemption from sins.

Time to reflect and reinvigorate our minds and spirit to a noble cause.

Time to ponder on our next moves and actions to improve ourselves and turn our backs on bad habits and impure thoughts. Well...

Like the venerated patron saint of honest-to-goodness workers, St. Joseph, Angeles City Councilor Joseph 'PG' Ponce has shown true grit and determination, thus proving himself worthy of the mandate given him by Angeles City voters.

March 19 happens to be the natal day of Councilor Joseph and is also celebrated as the Feast Day of St. Joseph.

He is up for reelection come May 13, 2019 and he is confident the voters may put him back to office again.

He has authored and/or co-authored ordinances and resolutions relevant to the needs and requirements of his constituents and he plans to sponsor more, in his next term.

Other hopefuls worth our scrutiny and votes are: Ralph Lauren “Basti” David, a former Dau kagawad and, of course, Nino 'RS' de los Reyes, whose credentials I have written in previous columns.

In Angeles City, we could consider Jay Pelayo, Councilors Joseph “PG” Ponce and Amos Rivera, all competent and resourceful individuals who are definitely assets to the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

There are others, young and qualified to be elected and be allowed the chance to prove their worth. Other proven candidates are former barangay chairmen Jerry Magsino and Rannie de Leon, both from Barangay Tabun, Mabalacat City.

Likewise, the reelectionists Eddie D. Sotto, Jerry Basilio and Jeng Yumul deserve to be voted for another term.
