3 CCA programs awarded as ‘Centers of Excellence’

THE Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management (APIEM) has awarded the City College of Angeles (CCA) with "Centers of Excellence" accreditation for three courses during a ceremony held March 13.

CCA president Richard Daenos received the certificates of accreditation from APIEM president David Hind for the courses Bachelor of Physical Education (BPE), Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education (BTTE), and Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS).

"Over the years, the CCA has received a number of accolades contributed by students, faculty members, administrators, and non-teaching personnel. All these contributed to the realization of CCA's vision of becoming a premier local college in the country,” said Daenos.

"These numerous feats are testaments of the college’s efforts to continuously innovate our curricula to better equip our students with the necessary skills to go beyond the expectations of their respective fields," the CCA president added.

Meanwhile, Hind emphasized the importance of the occasion both for their organization and the CCA.

"This is the first time that we are accrediting a community college in the manner that we accredit a university and a polytechnic college in Europe, Africa, Asia and in the Philippines. We appreciate and recognize the pioneering efforts of the great leaders of CCA in introducing programs of study in events management with international ideals and standards," said Hind.

APIEM is a United Kingdom-based accrediting body that organizes events industry employers and academic institutions who are committed to establishing and implementing immense quality courses for students and events professionals whose main goal is to develop and advance their competence to qualify in the global events industry.

Moreover, APIEM equips consultancy services to universities, colleges and training providers throughout the Asia Pacific region who wish to develop their program of studies that is appropriate to the needs of the events industry globally.

For his part, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan expressed his congratulations to the CCA administration for this exceptional recognition from an international accrediting body. The mayor also lauded the selfless dedication of CCA in pursuing the dreams of every Angeleño to become productive resource for nation building.

In 2017, APIEM also named the CCA as International Center of Excellence for Events Management under its BS Tourism Management course.

Some of the members of the CCA faculty were also awarded with professional membership to the Asia Pacific Institute for Events Management in Physical Education, Technical Vocational Teacher Education and Library and Information Science.

The accreditation coincided with CCA’s celebration of the National Food Month which pays tribute to the nation’s culinary tradition, excellence, and ingenuity vital to foster national pride and sense of belongingness. (PR)
