Drug suspect killed in buy-bust op

AN ILLEGAL drug suspect died when he fought back against police operatives in a buy-bust operation in Kauswagan, Cagayan de Oro City.

Members of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit (RDEU) killed Bryan Dabudabu, resident of Consolacion, Cagayan de Oro City.

He was the sixth suspected drug personality killed in a police operation in Cagayan de Oro City alone, since January.

The operatives said that the suspect was armed with a caliber .38 revolver and fought back upon sensing that he is dealing with police authorities.

However, the suspect's family also insisted that the suspect never owned the said gun, and yet the police maintained they were forced to shoot the suspect when the latter fired his gun at them first.

No one from the operatives was wounded, while the suspect succumbed to three gunshot wounds to his body and rushed to the city-run hospital in Barangay Carmen, but he was already dead upon arrival.

Investigators said the suspect's companion escaped on board a motorcycle, while they recovered the suspect's firearm and two sachets of suspected shabu (Methamphetamine hydrochloride).

Meanwhile, an incumbent village councilman and a former town mayor were arrested in a separate anti-illegal drug operations in Misamis Occidental last week.

Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit in Northern Mindanao launched the operations which resulted to the arrest of Amiel Enot in Purok Sampaguita, Sinacaban, Misamis Occidental and Liwaya Angcap and Leander Lumantas in Purok-2, Talairon, Oroquieta City.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) - Northern Mindanao said Enot is an incumbent councilor of Barangay Colupan Bajo, Sinacaban and a relative of Mayor Crisenciano Mahilac, the incumbent mayor of Sinacaban who was allegedly included in the recently released narco-list of President Rodrigo Duterte.

On the other hand, PDEA-Northern Mindanao said Angcap was a former mayor of Midsalip, Zamboanga del Sur and daughter of the incumbent mayor who was included in President Rodrigo Duterte's “narco-list” while Lumantas was her live-in partner and a known drug dependent from Aurora, Zamboanga del Sur.

The operation was based on search warrants issued by a court in Oroquieta City.

The anti-narcotics agents seized nearly P300,000 worth of suspected shabu, a .45 caliber pistol and several ammunition.

Suspects were detained and were facing illegal drug charges.
